The Most Common Sex Fantasies During Pregnancy

by Autumn Jones

Find your mind traveling to thoughts of a steamy tryst with a beautiful stranger or a quickie with a lover from your past? It's likely an unexpected part of pregnancy has a hold on you and it's playing out in some sexy scenarios. Chances are these lusty thoughts are surfacing at night, in your dreams to be specific. But some of the most common sex fantasies in pregnancy may start to occupy your mind in the waking hours as well. It's nothing to be alarmed by; many women say that they have had out of the ordinary (for them) sex dreams and fantasies while pregnant.

According to Parents magazine, when you're pregnant "extra blood flow to your genitals, raised estrogen levels that increase vaginal secretions, and sensitive, enlarged breasts mean your sex drive may be raging." Theses factors do more than up the odds of your being in the mood around the clock, the changes in your pregnant body also increase the frequency of erotic dreams, as Dr. Leah Millheiser, director of the female sexual medicine program at Stanford University Medical Center told Women's Health Magazine. If you've noticed more saucy since discovering you have a baby on board, you may find yourself caught up in one of these common pregnant lady fantasies.

Old Flame

It's always nice to feel like there are other people out there who can identify with your feelings, and when it comes to pregnancy sex fantasies, there's comfort in numbers. Moms-to-be are reaching out to others on message boards to confess that they've dreamed about hooking up with an ex at some point during their pregnancy. Each commenter expressed relief that it wasn't just them and many expressed concern over what this fantasy could mean. But there's no cause to worry, fantasizing about an ex doesn’t mean you love your partner any less, as Pregnancy and Baby explained. It's just your brain's way of bringing closure to this old part of your life, so you'll be prepared to take on the new.

Being With Other Women

On forums for both Baby Center and Pregnancy info, pregnant women were sharing their lusty desires for the bodies of other women. Many were shocked to find their mind taking them to this place and were curious of the intention behind it. However, in most cases, it's just your mind running free. "These fantasies are our way of safely exploring the wild things we may never do in our real lives," certified sex educator Logan Levkoff told Today's Parent. What actually happens in your pregnant sex life may not always be predictable. In fact, Andrea Rosenburg wrote for Cosmopolitan magazine that she never found another pregnant woman to get busy with while she was expecting, even though it was a vivid fantasy of her's.

Although having sex fantasies that aren't your norm can send you into an over-analytical vortex, try to avoid spending too much time dissecting these steamy thoughts. Go with the flow that your changing body (and hormones) bring and keep in mind that these thoughts will probably go away once your baby is born.
