Video Of Ryan Lochte's 'Dancing With The Stars' Moment Shows Just How Unexpected It Was

by Allison Piwowarski

During the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars, the unexpected happened. No, I'm not talking about the fact that Vanilla Ice wasn't terrible. I'm talking about the fact that Ryan Lochte's critique was completely interrupted by a stage heckler, and it was actually a scary moment. In case you missed it, the video of Ryan Lochte's Dancing with the Stars moment shows just how unexpected and unsettling the moment was.

Update: According to Eyewitness News, the two men were protesting Lochte for "endangering America with his Olympics fiasco." Two men were seen being escorted into a police car, while five women were escorted out of the studio. There has been no word on any arrests.

While we can probably all agree that Ryan Lochte has made some mistakes, charging him on stage at the Dancing with the Stars premiere certainly doesn't seem like the appropriate answer to any of the problems that have occurred over the past few weeks. While we don't know exactly what went down on the Dancing with the Stars stage, some eye witness reports are developing a landscape that is rather scary for the Olympian (and anyone else involved).

Below, you'll see a video of the incident, as it aired on television. As Carrie Ann Inaba was critiquing the dance that Lochte had just performed with his partner Cheryl Burke, chaos seemed to ensue when bodies were seen running in front of Carrie Ann's shot, seemingly towards Lochte, Burke, and Tom Bergeron.

You can clearly see Carrie Ann's shock in what was happening in front of her. You can also hear her saying "Excuse me," and "Off" to the stage intruders. It's charming, but something tells me that people who acquired tickets to Dancing with the Stars just to troll a fallen Olympic athlete are not going to stop because Carrie Ann Inaba said, "Excuse me." I digress.

An ABC News correspondent tweeted the following photo of the two alleged suspects. Romper reached out to both ABC and Lochte regarding the incident, but did not hear back at the time of publication.

After returning from an unplanned commercial break, Bergeron explained that they "had a little incident," and that he would like to thank the security team for "staying in shape." Lochte said he had a "many emotions going through his head," and was a "little hurt." Even if you don't like the guy, you've got to feel bad for him that this moment was ruined by protestors.

Even Lochte's partner, Burke, was upset by the moment — understandably so. She said, "I'm hurt for Ryan... He's just here trying to work his butt off." Hopefully the two can move on from the scare on Week 1 and keep their heads high. And hopefully their dance was good enough to keep them? This moment was so distracting, does anyone even remember how he did?
