So, What Did Amber Tamblyn *Really* Name Her Baby?

by Laura Hankin

On Tuesday, Amber Tamblyn, of traveling pants-wearing fame, announced the birth of her baby girl with husband David Cross via Instagram, using what seemed like an excellent joke about the baby's name. But some fans were a little confused about whether or not the lengthy moniker could potentially be real. So, what did Amber Tamblyn actually name her baby? Most of her followers are pretty sure it's not what she Instagrammed, although it would be pretty freaking awesome if it was. (Well, awesome for us. Not so much for the baby, who would get teased mercilessly in school.)

In the post, Tamblyn shared a video of her daughter's tiny foot, writing,

David and I are proud to announce the birth of our daughter, Dauphinoise Petunia Brittany Scheherazade Von Funkinstein Mustard Witch RBG Cross Tamblyn-Bey Jr. #TheFutureIsFemale

First of all, to be named after both Ruth Bader Ginsburg and a mustard witch would be a great honor. But given that Tamblyn and Cross are both hilarious comedians (just go watch Tobias Fünke's greatest hits if you've got any doubts about that) and seemingly self-aware people, it's likely that we'll have to wait for the real baby name. Romper has reached out to Tamblyn's publicists, who were unable to share any additional information. As Romper's Cameron Norsworthy pointed out, though, USA Today has confirmed that Tamblyn's Instagrammed baby name is, indeed, a joke.

Fans who are still grappling with the baby-naming mystery can rest easy with the knowledge that, regardless of what Cross and Tamblyn do end up naming their daughter, it seems they've been doing a lot of thinking on how to parent her, especially given the current state of the country. Back in October, Tamblyn wrote a piece for Glamour in which she revealed that she was pregnant with a daughter and constantly considering how to raise her in a world where sexism is still such a powerful force. (And this was before Donald Trump won the election.)

Since the surprising election results, Tamblyn has been publicly fighting for a better and fairer future for her daughter, and for everyone. Even while heavily pregnant, Tamblyn attended the Women's March in Washington, D.C., where she met up with her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars.

So welcome to the world, Little Dauphinoise Petunia Brittany Scheherazade Von Funkinstein Mustard Witch RBG Cross Tamblyn-Bey Jr. (Hey, might as well call her that for as long as possible. When is the chance ever going to come around again?) Your mom and dad are total badasses.
