The One Question You Shouldn't Be Asking About Kim K's Surrogate

News broke early Wednesday morning that Kim Kardashian West and husband Kanye West have hired a surrogate. West has made it clear, usually on her family's show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, that she wants another child. So, who is Kim Kardashian West's surrogate? Turns out, and this really shouldn't be a surprise, it's none of your business.

For as open as Kardashian has been about her hopes for another baby, she has been just as open about her difficult pregnancies with her daughter North West and son Saint West, which have caused her (and her doctors) major concern when even thinking about any future pregnancies. Kardashian West suffered from a condition known as placenta accreta, in which the American Pregnancy Association describes as, "a condition that occurs where the placenta attaches itself too deeply into the wall of the uterus." According to the same association, it occurs in approximately 1 in 2,500 pregnancies. The risks, according to the American Pregnancy Association's website, are harrowing, and further highlight at least one of what must be many reasons why Kardashian West and family decided to hire a surrogate. The risk to the baby is, usually, premature delivery. The risks to the mother involve hemorrhaging during manual attempts to detach the placenta, which can damage the uterus or become life threatening.

When all eyes are usually focused on Kim Kardashian West regardless, but especially when she has been pregnant with her children, it stands to reason the public will now shift focus to the woman the Kardashian West family has reportedly decided to hire to help them welcome another baby to their family. The problem? It's no one's business, and just like any other pregnant woman going through 40 (more or less) weeks of intense physical and emotional changes, in order to remain healthy the surrogate needs her space.

Which is why it's a relief to know that the high-powered, always-churning-out-breaking-news media has yet to release any information on the surrogate at all. In fact, even TMZ can only report on how much they think the surrogate is being paid. According to initial reports, the surrogate will be paid $45,000 in 10, $4,500 monthly installments. In the big scheme of things, and considering the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released information that makes the United States' maternal death rate the worst of any developed nation, that's a small price to pay.

Celebrities are rarely given the privacy they deserve in family planning situations such as this, especially high-profile celebs like Kim Kardashian West and clan. Her surrogate, however, is not a celebrity, and should not be made to feel as though the eye of the free world is on her constantly and while she does something as taxing as grow a human being inside her body. Hopefully information about this woman remains scarce, and isn't revealed unless she personally makes the decision to come forward.
