Will There Be A Season 2 Of 'Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life'? Its Fate Is Uncertain

To say that Gilmore Girls fans were excited when it was announced that Netflix would be producing a revival of the beloved series is something of an understatement. The show maintains a special place in the hearts of everyone who loves it, and fans always want more. That said, will there be a Season 2 of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life? As much as fans are already hungry for more Gilmore, there are no plans for a follow-up revival. But, you know, never say never.

One of the most anticipated aspects of the new Gilmore Girls is exactly how it's going to end. To be precise, the infamous final four words that show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino never got to write for her most beloved characters. Due to contract disputes, Sherman-Palladino and her co-creator husband, Dan Palladino, both left the series before the seventh season, which is widely derided as the weakest of all the seasons, as it was simply not the Gilmore Girls fans knew and loved. Now that Sherman-Palladino actually got to write the final four words that she wanted to close the show with, this would imply that the series is really, truly, officially done forever. But maybe there could be more if the opportunity presented itself?

In an interview with TVLine, the Sherman-Palladinos were asked whether they had achieved a sense of closure with the series and their response was rather mixed. "In a way but it wasn't a closure we were seeking," Dan said, while Amy added, "There is no closure in life, is there? Does that work? Do you ever find closure in life? I haven't." So, if you ask me, that seems pretty open-ended. But hold on to your hats ladies and gents because Dan then dropped this little tidbit regarding those final four words. "The story is coming to an end," he said. "For now, at least." For now. For. Now. Does that mean that more Gilmore Girls could potentially be in our future? What I think it means is that, for Dan Palladino at least, there's always the possibility of more stories to come.

In the meantime, though, the show's stars as well as the creators have been incredibly emotional about this last chapter. In People, Lauren Graham said "I’m so glad I got to do it again. I just can’t even explain it. It was everything I wanted it to be and more."

And since everyone was having so much fun on set together, it may not take too much arm-twisting to get them to come back, even for a spin-off creation. Anything is possible these days.
