Kat Stoeffel

Kat Stoeffel is features director at BDG. She edits celebrity cover stories and other feature profiles, focusing on people of interest in entertainment, business and politics. She also commissions and edits service packages, trend stories, and essays that connect issues in the news to our readers’ personal pursuits. She works across many BDG sites, including Bustle, Romper, Elite Daily, NYLON, Inverse, Scary Mommy, Fatherly and The Zoe Report.

Prior to BDG, Kat was digital features editor at ELLE, assigning and editing profiles of influential women in culture and entertainment. Other past jobs include: editing essays and op-eds at BuzzFeed News, working as a writer and editor covering politics and gender at The Cut, reporting on the media and publishing industries at The New York Observer. She has written for the New York Times and The Hollywood Reporter, among other outlets. She graduated from Brown University with a degree in English, concentrating on nonfiction writing. Features and service packages that Kat edited have been recognized by ASME, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the Newswomen’s Club.

Kat’s non-work interests include long distance and trail running, skiing and camping, literary fiction and corporate thrillers. She lives in the Hudson Valley, where she has taken up gardening to support pollinators and to defray the cost of her toddler’s berry consumption.
