Taylor Harris

Taylor Harris is the author of This Boy We Made: A Memoir of Motherhood, Genetics, and Facing the Unknown, a finalist for both the Library of Virginia’s 2023 People’s Choice Literary Awards in Nonfiction, as well as the 2023 Southern Book Award in Nonfiction. Her debut was named one of the best memoirs of the year by Vulture and one of the best nonfiction books of 2022 by The Washington Post. It’s true that even though Taylor has never been very good at soccer or singing, celebrities Megan Rapinoe and Amerie selected her book for their book clubs. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, TIME, O Quarterly, SELF, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Longreads, The Cut, Parents, Romper, McSweeney’s, and other publications. In addition to writing and speaking on topics such as motherhood, racism, and health, she leads writing workshops for graduate students at Johns Hopkins University, where she earned her master’s in nonfiction writing many moons ago. She lives with her family in Virginia and enjoys short walks on the street to get ice cream, preferably a pint at a time.
